Don Tomei: Pastor
Don Tomei serves in the position of Senior Pastor of Restoration Church, although he is quick to remind everyone that Jesus really is “running the show.” “I believe I am only the Associate in Charge. This may sound religious, but honestly, I find this lifts the burden from me and puts into practice the realization that the Lord is the One in control. Jesus is the true Pastor of Restoration Church.”
Don first came to Restoration Church in 1998 as Associate Pastor. He previously served for ten years as Youth Director and Singles Pastor at New Hope Ministries.
Don and his wife, Toni, are originally from Akron, Ohio, where he was a firefighter/paramedic and owner of a construction company. During this time, he was the Youth Director for his local church.
Don’s personal mission statement in life is simply stated, “To love God, to do what’s right in the eyes of the Lord, and to give Him the glory.”
Ryan has been the worship leader for Restoration Church since February 2007. He is a native of the Naples area and began attending Restoration Church in 2002.
He is a graduate of CHEACC (Christian Home Educators At Collier County) and was homeschooled through both middle and high school. It was during this time he received classical piano lessons, guitar lessons, and, for a short time, classical voice training.
Ryan served in the music ministry at Restoration Church under the former worship leader, Scott Gonzalez. It was during this time that he received much of the training and mentoring he needed. He served on both weekend worship teams when available, and in 2006 he took over the youth band.
“Since I was in elementary school, I’ve had this desire to be involved in worship. There was something about worship that made me feel alive. In 2003 I saw Chris Tomlin and David Crowder at the Youth Worker’s Specialties Conference in Charlotte, NC. It was an awesome experience, and it was then that I knew that was what I wanted to do. One of the speakers said something about not limiting what God can do through you by saying, “I can’t.” A couple of years later, I stepped out by singing a song for Scott that I had written. He was the first person to hear me sing. He is a great encourager, and he had a lot of confidence in me. Without him, I don’t believe I ever would have stepped out into my calling. Several months later I became the Worship Leader for the Youth Group. Now I’m leading the whole church, which seems crazy to me! God is amazing!”
Pat Bessette: Director of Small Groups
Harry Thomas: Director of the Jail Ministry
Harry’s ministry is to share the hope of Christ outside of the sanctuary. He spends a lot of time counseling one on one and teaching. He has been involved in Christian counseling for over twenty-five years and has yet to find a question that scripture does not answer. His studies were under the Christian Counseling and Education Foundation in Pennsylvania, but even more so under the Holy Spirit. The text book was and is the Bible.
For the last five years, Harry has been preaching every Saturday morning at Collier County Jail. Many men and women of this congregation make this ministry possible. Harry could not do this alone - he is just part of a team.
Harry lost his wife of 43 years in 1998 to cancer. In 2001, God truly filled the void with a wonderful partner, Jan, his wife. Between the two of them, they have eight children, twelve grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. They labor in Christ together and their joy is to see men and women restored to Christ and society as blessings to the community.
Kevin Patton: Pastoral Care/Evangelism
Kevin was born on December 25, 1958, in Santa Barbara, CA. He lost his father when he was eleven years old to cancer, and watched his mother raise seven children on her own, Kevin being a middle child. It was hard, but he can see now what the Lord was doing in His life.
He was radically saved on January 1, 1991, after he was released from prison. Our Lord delivered him from alcohol and drugs and imparted a pssion to see others set free from this oppression.
Jesus has called Kevin to preach, teach and evangelize a lost generation bound by the chains and fetters of this world. His desire is to lead the lost to the One he is following, and watch Him transform them by His Holy Spirit.
Jason Froitzheim: Youth Minister
Jason and his wife, Maggie, grew up in Naples, and have just returned after eleven years in other areas of Florida. They have two beautiful children: Caleb, age 8, and Lucy, age 4. They are excited to be back home and see the growth and the amount of young couples and teenagers in the area. They are also excited to be a part of the Restoration Church family.
Jason received his schooling at Brownsville Revival School of Ministry, and also through Global University. His heart is to see God make Himself real to young people who allow Him to move in their lives. He looks forward to meeting the youth in this area and impacting the community for Christ.
Toni Tomei: Director of Children’s Ministry
I have been working with children my whole life. Coming from a family of six children and being one of the oldest, I played a significant role in helping to protect, guide and nurture them. I knew even then that I wanted to work with children.
After graduation in 1970 from Coventry High School in Akron, Ohio, I taught at a dance studio for a number of years training up young girls and pouring into children of all ages. In 1974 I gave my life to Christ at a small group. Shortly thereafter, through a series of events, I met Don and we married, and I have had the privilege to call him my husband since 1974. We have three wonderful children – Buddy, Mandy and Danielle – who are all serving the Lord, and six beautiful grandchildren who have captured our hearts and keep us before the Lord continually.
I have been licensed through the Department of Children and Family Services with therapeutic training, and have taken foster children into our home. We have always had an “open door” policy when we pastored at New Hope Ministries and at Restoration Church.
My goal and vision at Restoration Church is to create and promote an atmosphere in which the Holy Spirit will have an open corridor to work His will in the lives of children.
Tom Howe: Director of Missions
Tom serves as Director of Missions, is a Small Group Co-Leader, ministers in Assisted Living, and is a member of the church Prayer Ministry. He was formerly Assistant Director of Small Groups.
He moved to Naples in 2005 from Detroit, where he retired from Chrysler and spent the previous ten years as Manager of Truck Program Timing and Weight Engineering. Tom was active in the Chrysler Management Club and served as President, Education Director, and was honored as Member of the Year. He is the proud father of two grown sons who live in Chicago.
Tom came to know the Lord in the early 1970’s and, over the years, served as Sunday School teacher, Royal Ranger leader, and has participated in numerous church business committees. He has prayer walked numerous Civil War battlefields, Southwest Florida beaches and communities, and Berlin, Germany.
Tom is a Christ Gospel Tabernacle Ministerial School graduate and was ordained in 1976. He has earned a Masters Degree in Business Management from Central Michican University, and is currently attending Regent University, pursuing a Master of Arts in Practical Theology.
“The Lord told me to attend Regent, and while I was walking the campus, He told me He was sending me to the nations.” The start of another great adventure ...
Tammy Irwin: Director of International School of Ministries
Tammy and Jason Irwin have been attending Restoration Church since November, 2002. They have both gone through the ISOM program and God has moved mightily in their lives. They were both asked to facilitate the next ISOM class, which brought Tammy to a new level of relationship with God and moving in the Spirit. She was subsequently asked to be ISOM Director in September 2007, and has since seen God use the ISOM program to raise up God’s church here and around the world.
Tammy and Jason are raising four daughters. All are home-schooled and all are active in Restoration Church.
Tammy’s passion to see God’s church discipled comes from her own life experiences, through ISOM and Restoration Church, and from having been discipled herself and seeing how God moved in and changed her marriage, her family, and herself.
Judy Camacho: Director of Finance
Judy has been attending Restoration Church since July 2002 and working as the Minister of Finance since July 2004, immediately following her marriage to husband, Angel. She has worked in finance since 1987.
Judy has raised two daughters and she and Angel have three grandchildren.
Judy’s goal is to get into leadership where God is calling her as a teacher of finance to God’s people. Currently, through Restoration Church, she offers Dave Ramsey’s course, Financial Peace University, to anyone in the church and community interested in becoming debt free.
Marybeth DeGarmo: Office Manager
Marybeth joined the Restoration Church staff in January 2005. She came to us with an extensive administrative background, including seven years of experience at New Hope Ministries. She is an ISOM graduate, class of 2008, with an Associates Degree in Biblical Studies. She now helps facilitate the current ISOM class of 2009. Marybeth is also the Director of Women’s Ministries for Restoration Church.
Marybeth and her husband, Bentley, came to Naples from Simsbury, CT in 1989 to raise their family. They have been blessed with a combined family of five children and seven grandchildren.
Marybeth’s passion is to serve the Body of Christ, and to see women come out from under the burden of their past circumstances and hurts and come into all that God has for them today.
